Orange Dreamsicle Flan with Vanilla Cream Drizzle

INGREDIENTS

For the Flan:
- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 2 teaspoons orange zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt

For the Thin Vanilla Cream Drizzle:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS:

Make the Flan:
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Whisk wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until well combined and pale yellow. Gradually whisk in heavy cream, milk, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Strain and bake: Strain the mixture into a 9-inch round baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill with hot water halfway up the sides of the baking dish. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly jiggly.
- Cool and chill: Remove from the water bath and let cool completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.

Make the Vanilla Cream Drizzle:
- Chill a bowl: Place a small metal bowl in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
- Whip the cream: Remove the chilled bowl from the freezer. Pour in the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Whip to soft peaks: Using a whisk or electric mixer, beat the cream on high speed until soft peaks form.
- Thin the cream: To achieve a thin, drizzle-able consistency, gradually add a small amount of milk or cream until the desired texture is reached.
